ACCESS

Wheelchair Access
The route is approximately 1.4km long. It is level access, with a mix of gravel and dirt paths, grass lawns and hardstanding ground. There are some areas of the event which aren’t fully wheelchair accessible. These will be made clear on our access map and an alternative route provided.

We will have manual wheelchairs suitable for outdoor use for hire, as well as electric mobility scooters. Please get in touch using our access form if you would like to use this service

Yuletide is an outdoor event, so in the event of bad weather we may have to change the route of the Illuminated Trail. There is a slight gradient when entering the trail, so please bear that in mind.

Accessible toilets

There are accessible toilets available, please check our access map for details of location.

Access Map

We will be providing an access map of the site, please check back in nearer to the event.

Visual story

We will be providing a visual story for the experience. A visual story is an information pack with words and pictures which can help people feel more familiar with an environment or experience before coming. It can be useful for both adults and children who are autistic, neurodivergent or learning disabled. Please check back in nearer to the event.

Sensory friendly sessions

We can advise that all time slots on the 23rd and 30th of November will have lower visitor numbers, and between 3pm and 5pm during each date will be much quieter.

During these dates and times we anticipate lots of our visitors will have sensory sensitivities so our performers and staff and will be briefed accordingly. We also operate an arm band system during all dates and times; any visitor wishing for lower interaction during their visit can wear one to signal to performers that they may not wish to be interacted with.

While Yuletide will be crowded during busy periods, its setting in the gardens at Tatton Park make it a peaceful experience, and much quieter than many more commercial light trail experiences. We will turn the trail music down to a very low background level during these advised quiet session time slots.

There is a music stage with live musicians that starts at 5pm, just after the quiet sessions. This is folk music played using instruments like violins and guitars, rather than a loud disco style performance. The area with live music can be avoided for those who may find this type of experience difficult.

For all performances (music, storytelling, fire performances) you are welcome to come and go as needed, and we will operate a relaxed setting for these.

There will be a visual story and an access map available on the website in the coming weeks, and can be emailed to anyone who would find this useful.

Please get in touch with access@wildrumpus.org.uk if you have any questions around these sessions.

Personal assistant/carer tickets

We operate a free personal assistant ticket scheme. You can select a PA/carer ticket on the main ticketing page. We want as many people as possible to feel welcome at Yuletide, and just ask people to bring whatever documentation you have which demonstrates that the person who has the personal assistant ticket is entitled to one. This could be

DLA/PIP/AA letter

Nimbus Access Card or equivalent

a certificate of Visual Impairment

a Blue Disability Badge

a medical diagnosis letter or a letter for medical investigation if you are undiagnosed.

We know some people won’t have formal documentation that is easy to bring, so just bring something which shows us you need a carer ticket. We won’t turn you away at the door. If you have any questions or are unsure if you are entitled to a PA ticket please email access@wildrumpus.org.uk.

Accessible parking

Blue badge holder spaces are available in the main car park with level tarmac / flagstone access to the main entrance. It is approximately 100m to the main entrance. You do not need to pre book these spaces.

Assistance dogs

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome at Yuletide. You can let us know you’re bringing one by filling out this form or emailing access@wildrumpus.org.uk.
